Geoffrey’s practice involves corporate and commercial advisory services and transactional work with a special focus on mining, energy and natural resources law. He started his legal practice in 2008 with Ambrose Tebyasa & Co. Advocates, one of the leading law firms in Uganda, where he rose through the ranks to become a Senior Associate.

Geoffrey has handled high profile land cases, commercial transactions and Election petitions in the Courts of Judicature in Uganda. Geoffrey I also a chairperson of the Legal Committee of the Federation of Uganda Football Association, an organization where he has served for over 7 years.

Geoffrey has had over 10 (ten) years’ experience in the natural resources sector and has influenced both law and policy representing both investors and communities and state agencies in the acquisition of surface rights as well as mineral rights over vast tracts of land. As part of his advocacy in the natural resources sector, he has litigated on behalf of artisanal miners to ensure that they enjoy safer working conditions, that their rights are protected as well as capacity building of indigenous communities in mineral rich areas.

In this community engagement, he has advised investors on various modes of acquisition of surface rights and mineral rights with a human rights based approach that does not antagonize the local communities and therefore making the communities receptive of the investments over their land to ensure a win-win for all parties involved.

Pius holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University and a Post graduate Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with some of the biggest local construction companies as a Legal Advisor which enriched him with practical tools for negotiating construction contracts, monitoring progress and compliance, risk assessment and management and dispute resolution.

He participated in a training on contracts prepared by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (commonly known as FIDIC) which is well known in the consulting engineering field for its work in defining Conditions of Contract for the Construction industry worldwide.

He has advised on various projects involving private and public companies, multinational corporations, as well as state agencies. His key practice areas include Construction law, Energy Law, Banking and finance, Commercial Law and Corporate Practice, Revenue, Intellectual Property Law, Fin Tech

Peace Hildah holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University and a Post graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.

Before joining Gem Advocates, Peace Hildah worked as a Legal consultant at a Human Resource Training firm for multinational corporations. She is an ardent researcher and currently works with the Litigation and Employment, Restructures and Redundancies Departments of the firm.

Patricia holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University and a Post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. Prior to joining the firm, Patricia worked with the Uganda Registration of Services Bureau under the Department of Business Registration.

Patricia joined the firm as a clerkship student while pursuing her Diploma in Legal Practice at the Law Development Centre and upon completion was retained as Legal Assistant. She is gaining a wealth of experience in dispute avoidance and resolution, arbitration, and mediation and has proven to be a great asset to the Corporate Advisory, Construction and Infrastructure and Litigation Departments of the firm.

Roger is a highly regarded Litigation Lawyer who has successfully handled a number of high value civil and commercial disputes on behalf of various clients. He is also a transactional and corporate advisory lawyer, known for handling a range of complex commercial transactions with a business-centric and result oriented approach.

Roger has offered corporate and transactional legal advice to a number of local and multinational clients in various disciplines. These include two multinational entities with multi-million-dollar investments in the energy and power generation sectors, on the legal, regulatory and compliance requirements pertaining to their operations in Uganda. He has also represented an American worldwide consumer Products Company, on areas of business development and protection of its Intellectual Property rights particularly trademark and copyright.

Practical and expedient legal solutions is what he offers to clients, approaching each client’s legal need with the insight and proficiency required to achieve the most desirable solution.

Stanley holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University. He also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre.

Before joining the firm, Stanley attained diverse experience in the social justice and Human Rights field as the Program Officer in the Strategic Litigation Department at Centre for Health Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) and worked closely with Dalumba Advocates as an associate.

Stanley is well grounded in lobbying and negotiation and also boasts of a well-documented history in organizational leadership. He has cultivated a specialty in advising clients on dispute resolution, corporate governance, human rights, regulatory compliance, structuring and implementation of project finance as well a stint on some landmark public interest cases.

Ruth holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University and a Post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. In 2015, Ruth attended the International Nuremberg Principles Academy in Germany.

Prior to joining the firm, she worked with one of the reputable law firms in Uganda. Ruth’s areas of practice are tax practice, banking and finance, corporate and commercial advisory, property law and conveyance.

When not at work, Ruth engages in community work.
